Lorelai (ローレライ, Rōrerai) is a recurring character who appears in Suikoden, Suikoden II, Suikoden V, Genso Suikogaiden Vol.2, and Genso Suikoden Card Stories. Lorelai is a Sindar hunter, hoping to uncover the mysteries of the ancient race.

History

Adventures in Falena

Lorelai was a warrior enduring an adventurous journey. The purpose of her journey was never entirely clear, but it seemed tied into the Sindar, the ancient people who had mysteriously disappeared from history. She has gained many rivals in this quest including Killey, whom she managed to get thrown into a dungeon.

She and her rival Killey seem to have crossed paths several times; at one point, the two even became trapped in the Deep Twilight Forest ruins together and would nearly have died, if not for a time-traveling Viki (along with Nash Latkje, Millie, and Meg) crashing through the ceiling of the Twilight Ruins, creating an opening for them to escape from.

You are literally both of those things, Lorelai.

Two years later in 449, Lorelai tracked fellow "Sindar hunter" Zweig to the ruins at Ceras Lake, demanding to explore the interior with Zweig and the Prince, even challenging the Prince to a duel to prove he was worthy. Upon the success of unlocking the sluice gate at the ruins and the discovery of the Ceras Lake Castle, Lorelai joined his army along with Zweig, wanting to study the newly found ruins.

There, she once again met Viki. Lorelai teased Viki about letting her out of the Twilight Forest ruin; however, Viki had no recollection of this and was frightened by Lorelai's insistence that she admit that she had done it, complaining that she didn't know why Lorelai kept picking on her. Lorelai also once again crossed paths with Killey, who also joined the Prince's army, over her objection.

After the war, Lorelai helped herself to Zweig's research materials and took off to journey to where it pointed her - towards the Scarlet Moon Empire.

Exploring the Northern Continent

Forget it. I don't hang around with weaklings.

—  Lorelai
Lorelai by now was an expert in glomping onto armies for research purposes.

During the Gate Rune War, she would join in the Toran Liberation Army in Kouan, seemingly just to improve her own strength. Known as a realist who respected skilled warriors, she wielded a short bow during the war, which suited her as such a bow could be used without high physical strength. Following the war, Kirke would pass on his scythe to her.

She would continue her journey for a time before coming to Gregminster during the Dunan Unification War three years later. There, she would join the New State Army. Around this time, she would meet up with Killey, her old rival, who had similarly joined the force.

After the Dunan Unification War ended, Lorelai would begin to make her way to Kanakan, intending to investigate a Sindar ruin there before Killey could reach it.

In Genso Suikoden Card Stories

Sindar treasure hunters need to make a few potch on the side.

In Genso Suikoden Card Stories, Lorelai is an event encounter from chapter 2 onwards, with a chance of appearing in any field area.

She mostly operates as a rare card seller, selling powerful, rare, and/or expensive cards. However, on some maps a variant Lorelai encounter occurs where instead she offers to trade a rare card she has on hand for three of your cards. Which card she offers for trade is random.

Lorelai disappears after you have completed a transaction with her, so make sure you have bought everything you want from her before exiting the conversation.
