Hazuki (ハヅキ, Hazuki) is a supporting character in Suikoden V. Hazuki is a highly skilled swordswoman seeking to make up for her one loss, to the swordsman Belcoot.

History

Hazuki is a young swordswoman who took a journey to hone her skills and encountered Belcoot in Kanakan. There, the two dueled, only for Hazuki to be defeated. Humiliated and humbled, Hazuki vowed not to return home until she defeated him in a rematch.

She hails from a family of government sword instructors and is the heir to a prominent family in her home nation. She has also traveled the world and competed in various tournament circuits to improve her skills.

It was while competing in these circuits that she met Nikea, whom she dismissed as her intellectual inferior, as well as Gavaya, who was so persistent in his marriage proposals that she actually drew her sword on him. Even several years when she met him again, she was extremely wary of him, later admitting that if she had known Gavaya was in Falena she never would have traveled there.

During the Sun Rune War, Hazuki came across Belcoot once more at Port Spinacks and urged him to duel her in a rematch. Belcoot refused due to his obligations to the Prince. Thus, Hazuki pledged loyalty to the Prince and joined the Imperial City Recapture Army in the hopes of improving her skills by undergoing the same trials as Belcoot. Marina viewed Hazuki as a rival for Belcoot's affections and was highly suspicious of her.

As she fought alongside the Recapture Army, Hazuki realized the number of incredibly powerful warriors in the world, noting that it was foolish to concern herself with a single loss to Belcoot. Still, she decided to continue to try and surpass him, wanting to even the score. She also took the time to talk with Cathari and asked her about guns in the hope of finding a way to be able to defeat one.

Following the Sun Rune War, Hazuki became a sword trainer in the hopes of facing off against Belcoot again, much to Marina's dismay.
