Gino (ジーノ, Jīno) is a major character in Genso Suikoden Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki. He is a magicite crafter from Therbe Village and a close friend of the hero.
History

Magicite crafter of Therbe Village, Gino was the brother of Myra and a childhood friend of the hero. Growing up, he would train in martial artist but once Myra dedicated herself to magic, she pressured Gino into dropping his training and becoming a magicite crafter instead. Though often appearing cherry and flippant and frequently bickering with his sister, Gino was dedicated to his work, feeling it was his best chance at helping Myra and the hero. Like his two friends, he resented the Holy Empire of Ionia for the death of Syggni Albreck. With the Teras Pharma attacks of HIY 300, he was very much determined to journey with the duo despite his lack of combat prowess.
Sent back to Therbe Village to warn the villagers, Gino would be killed by the Teras Pharma, being able to share his true feelings before dying. Thankfully, due to the efforts of Myra and the hero in using the Era Tree, Gino would be saved. He noted Myra's unusual enthusiasm in seeing him again before journeying to the Lake Fortress alongside Lulusa to continue his magicite crafting.
During the war, he would have the opportunity to learn from a number of magicite crafters from history, including Ingolf. At first rebuffed, Ingolf would slowly open up to Gino, revealing that he couldn't understand why his son had died so pointlessly, not understanding what he was fighting for.
Gino would attempt to convince Ingolf that his son had fought and died to protect those he loved and though tragic, there was still meaning to his efforts. At Ralos Woods, Ingolf would attempt to placate Gino with some muddled magicite teachings, but it was only when Gino's lack of understanding sparked Ingolf's spirit that he would realize his potential as a Starbearer and truly teach Gino.
Following the final battle at the Yggdrasilian Palace, Gino continued to accompany Myra and the hero. Wherever they ended up, it was always his duty to craft magicite for his sister.
