—  Geddoe's profile

Appearance

Geddoe is a tall, slightly gaunt man with medium-length black hair and a single dark eye. His right eye was lost at some point, necessitating the use of an eyepatch.

He wears a dark long coat, with grey and white vertical straps on the front. He also wears black trousers, as well as brown gloves and boots. He bears the True Lightning Rune on his right hand and his glove conceals it completely.

Personality

Geddoe is a quiet and unsociable character. Although quiet, he commands a strong presence as a mercenary. His colleagues also trust him deeply despite his unwilling to talk about his past. He was often apologetic about being unwilling to share, as he trusted his comrades and knew they trusted him in turn.

He had always admired and was envious the Flame Champion's free-spirited way of life, the way he bore the True Fire Rune, but was never bound by it. He was also jealous of and somewhat resented his friend's decision to seal the rune and live the remainder of his life Sana. In comparison, Geddoe felt trapped by his fate as a True Rune bearer and abandoned his duty as a hero of the Grassland.

History

In the past, he had sustained the loss of his right eye, requiring the use of a patch. Some 70 years ago, he would inherit the True Lightning Rune, becoming its bearer. This happened near the Karaya Clan and since then he disliked being on Karaya lands due to the negative memories involved. He was a close friend of the Flame Champion, helping the original Fire Bringer to fight against the Holy Kingdom of Harmonia 50 years ago.

As a member of the Fire Bringer, Geddoe played a key role in the war against Harmonia. He was also the leader behind making the territory of Budehuc Castle common land. Following that war, he travelled the world, through many unnamed countries before becoming a mercenary and hiding his identity.

Geddoe served as the leader of the 12th Unit of the Harmonian Southern Frontier Defense Force. He joined the force some seven or eight years prior to the outbreak of the War of the Champions. Once he was ordered by the Holy Kingdom of Harmonia to investigate the rumors of the Fire Bringer, his situation began to change.

Geddoe and his unit would follow clues to the Great Hollow and the Karaya Village. Jimba was surprised to see him on Karaya lands due to his bad memories of the area, but Geddoe's sense of purpose overcame such sensitivities. He was able to determine that there was a conspiracy inciting war between the Zexen Federation and the clans of the Grassland. Realizing that the Masked Man was involved, he followed his trail to Le Buque before travelling to Budehuc Castle and eventually the Flame Champion's Hideaway.

Although he harbored some resentment towards the Flame Champion for his decision to set aside his True Fire Rune, the realization that Luc was planning to obtain the True Runes, prompting a massive Harmonian invasion, solidified Geddoe's will to protect the Grassland as a member of the Fire Bringer.

He and the SFDF would travel to Budehuc Castle at the request of Salome Harras to covertly aid the repelling of the Zexen Knight contingent there, allowing the area to remain a free trade zone, keeping it a perfect spot for the new international Fire Bringer to gather.

When Luc kidnapped the population of Le Buque, Geddoe would fight alongside Franz to free the captive people at Mt. Senai. Upon returning to Le Buque, Franz would be harassed as a Harmonian collaborator. Enraged, Geddoe would lambaste the crowd for their passiveness, feeling Franz had fought for Le Buque but the docile townspeople had chosen to fight for nothing.

During the War of the Champions, he would temporarily lose his True Lightning Rune to Luc, but knowing the consequences of what would happen if Luc's plans came to fruition, he struggled against his own mortality and reclaimed his rune.

Confronting Luc, Geddoe would dismiss his motivations for attempting to destroy his True Rune and call him a brat. Geddoe argued that the Flame Champion's choice to live out his life with his beloved was far more meaningful than Luc and his own's attitude towards immortality. Insisting that Luc's goal was not to create a new destiny but to destroy and kill, Geddoe would fight on and helped bring peace to the Grassland.

Following the war, Geddoe was able to return to his duties in the Southern Frontier Defense Force thanks to Sasarai but was still undecided about his future, carrying the True Lightning Rune once again.
