Bernadette Egan (ベルナデット・イーガン, Berunadetto Īgan) is a supporting character in Suikoden V. Bernadette Egan is an officer of the Island Nations Federation and the youngest daughter of Admiral Skald Egan.
History
Bernadette is the youngest of Skald Egan's eight children and served as his vice-commander aboard his ship, the Lino En Kuldes. Bernadette never even knew her eldest brother, Ferid, who had already left the Island Nations by the time she was born. As such, Bernadette had no idea that her eldest brother was the husband of the Falenan Queen, Arshtat Falenas. When she came of age, Bernadette joined the Island Nations Federation Navy.
Although she held a sharp mind, Bernadette was more serious-minded than her father, allowing her to be manipulated by Skald whenever he appeared to be on the verge of doing something incredibly reckless. For example, after the Prince of Falena offered his help in defusing a tense situation regarding the threatened destruction of Nirva Island's lighthouse, Bernadette was hesitant to accept foreign help until Skald acted as if he planned to burn down the lighthouse, pirates and all. Then, after the incident, Bernadette was tricked into offering her services to the Prince's Imperial City Recapture Army when Skald made out that he was planning to take his fleet into battle without the permission of the Obel Maritime Council.
During her time with the Recapture Army, her good looks captured the attention of many people, including, but not limited to, Kyle and Wasil. Some folks also remarked that she looked similar to someone, although it seems none pegged the connection between herself and Ferid, and by extension, the Prince. Even, Kyle who most of all was close to the royal family. Georg, on the other hand, knew but kept it to himself. Later, she helped the Prince rescue a young hostage from pirates with the aid of Chisato, and also accompanied him, Yahr and Nelis on their mission to investigate a possible report of Rune Cannons, eventually offering no objections to the idea of destroying the salvageable cannon aboard the derelict Kerzalik.
Following the end of the Sun Rune War, Bernadette returned to her post as vice-commander of the Lino En Kuldes, having to put up with her father's mind games all the while.
