Rockland (ロックランド, Rokkurando) is a village which appears in Suikoden and the upcoming Suikoden STAR LEAP. It is a small rural village located to the east of the Imperial capital of Gregminster.

Information

They say a new Emperor came to power some years ago but out here in this country village it makes no difference who's Emperor.

—  Man

Rockland's name comes from its harsh terrain, barren save for rocks and nearly completely devoid of plant life. It was located roughly three days east, by horseback, of Gregminster.

Rockland was a desolate, poor town with buildings made of stone. Sand and loose stones could be found everywhere.

Ordinarily, Rockland was considered a simple, but peaceful, village. During the Gate Rune War, the area was said to be more dangerous than in years past and dissatisfaction with the village's military commander, Grady, was high.

Grady would also institute frivolous taxes for his own benefit. Growing hair, wearing clothes, and married couples sharing a bed were all taxes Grady implemented on the people of Rockland.

An Imperial Guard party, led by Kanaan, investigated a lack of taxes coming from Rockland in the early stages of the Toran Liberation War, with Grady blaming the issue on the Mt. Seifu bandits. A young girl, Haruna, acted as a guide.

The gambler Marco spent time in Rockland before traveling to the Warriors' Village. Botan nabe (wild boar hot pot) was a Rockland specialty and served at its inn.

Grady abandoned the village towards the end of the war, with the people of Rockland happy with their improved circumstances and thoughtful about the future.

Rock Rockland

Rockland's theme in Suikoden is the eponymous song "Rock Rockland", which is song 15 on disc 1 of the Genso Suikoden Original Game Soundtrack. It shares this theme with both the towns of Sarady and Lenankamp. All three are located in the region of Arus.

The Genso Suikoden Original Game Soundtrack notes that Rock Rockland is the theme for Rockland and Lenankamp, but not for Sarady, perhaps underscoring that village's isolation and unimportance.
